Mediation is used to help two or more people resolve an outstanding dispute or conflict. A mediator encourages the parties involved to explore the reasons behind how they feel and why the situation has become a problem. By exploring the issues with a third party who can help clarify confusing messages or misinterpretations, there should be a better chance of finding a solution that suits everyone.
Mediation is used in the workplace when people experience a personality clash or misunderstanding that is not easily resolved by talking together. By reducing workplace conflict early in the development of differences, the business or organisation can avoid expensive legal procedures to find resolutions with all the associated negative consequences and stress involved.
Mediation is a structured approach which helps to clarify issues, explore options and assist the people involved to plan ways to find a resolution that everyone is happy to agree to and to abide by.
The mediator is non-judgemental and the information remains confidential.
Private/family mediation services may also be offered through Cumbria Therapies, our associated therapy centre. Click here to visit The Cumbria Therapies web site.
